Continental Math League at FFMS
FFMS students in grades 6, 7, and 8 are participating in the Continental Math League (CML) competition. This national competition involves a series of “meets” where students compete against their grade level peers. Students have five meets throughout the year where every child in the grade level is given the same six challenging math questions. The questions are designed to be demanding; therefore, not all students will be able to solve every problem. However, the questions are based upon the skills that the students have already been taught. The goal is that students will improve their problem-solving skills as the result of their participation in CML.
FFMS students participated in the Continental Math League this year, and one of our teams earned a spot close to the top. The students in the 8th grade Accelerated Algebra I and Accelerated Geometry classes finished second in the region with a total of 177 out of a possible 180 points! This was one point behind the regional winner and three points behind the national winners.
